It's Official

I've lived a month of my life in Buenos Aires. Crazy how time flies, but apparently I've been here for just over 5 weeks. So here are 5 reasons why I'm officially as Argentine as I can be so far:
  1. Two people on two different occasions have asked me for directions. Granted for one of them I couldn't respond because they were talking so fast I really didn't know where they were trying to go so I just responded with the good ol "no hablo español" but hey, at least they asked!
  2. I got caught not paying for my train ticket. Argentines have this sneaky way of jumping over the little turn things that you have to pass through when you get off the train but mis amigas and me, no such luck. However luckily the police man bargained with us and we got the 30 pesos charge for the three of us down to 20 pesos. Wonder where that money's going..
  3. This past weekend when I went to Rosario with our program our big tour bus stayed outside our hotel because we were leaving the next day and the back windshield got broken into. We outsmarted the thieves though and had all of our stuff in our hotel rooms, so nothing lost.. except a very large window.
  4. I have taken a spinning class and a yoga class IN ESPANOL. Next on the agenda at the fabulous SportClub is body combat, or maybe body attack or body pump.
  5. I have figured out that the sensors on the train doors will not always notice you. Last weekend, during rush hour, on my train back from El Tigre I was trying to push through the crowd to get to the door at our stop but didn't quite make it. However, the bag I was carrying (with a present for my sister which she better like!) DID make it outside the door, as did my hand. In between the doors was squishy so my hand was fine but my bag enjoyed the rest of the journey to the next stop chillin outside the train. The entire car started cracking up and everyone bonded over it and took pictures on their cell phones. Happy to entertain.

Here are some more pictures from my day in El Tigre:

"Folk Hop" extra special performance on the train. Yes, I bought their CD.

I guess this is what El Tigre looks like in the sun!

Like corn dogs, only better.

Everyone got dressed up today

Waffle sandwiches

Welcome to Argentina: birds in the store.

Dinner at Zebda, "cuisine sans frontièrs" aka food without borders

And finally a caesar salad!!
